Job description

About Peddler

Peddler is building one of the most sustainable and efficient last-mile delivery networks in the Netherlands.

We deliver thousands of parcels every day across cities throughout the Netherlands, using smart planning, technology and electric cargo bikes. Leading retailers, marketplaces and e-commerce businesses rely on us to make urban delivery faster, more sustainable and more efficient.

Our proposition is: bring sustainable logistics infrastructure closer to consumers. With a strategic investor on board and clear ambitions to expand nationwide, we’re entering an exciting new phase of growth, building on a strong operational foundation and scaling Peddler to the next level.

As we grow, our focus is simple: continuously explore better ways to operate, improving planning, productivity, processes and cost efficiency while building an operation that can scale sustainably.

If you enjoy turning operational complexity into simple, engineering scalable solutions, you’ll feel at home at Peddler.

The Role

As Operations Manager, you will work closely with our Head of Operations at the top of the operational pyramid, staying upstream of the entire operation and helping engineer how Peddler’s network runs day to day, while developing the tools and processes that make this planning increasingly accurate and scalable, translating expected parcel volumes into the people, capacity and transport required to deliver them efficiently.

Great operations don’t happen by accident. They require clear processes, accurate forecasts and people who enjoy bringing structure to complexity. We are looking for someone who naturally asks: What volume is coming? Where will it arrive? What resources do we need? And how can we organise them more efficiently?

A core part of your role will be using and developing state-of-the-art models to understand and forecast parcel injection by client and geography, translating expected volumes into the capacity, routing and resources required across riders, hubs, DSPs and mid-mile operations.

You will compare forecasts with actual injection, scan and delivery volumes to identify bottlenecks, improve forecast accuracy and continuously optimise how we plan and run the network. Alongside the numbers, you will help turn operational learnings into repeatable processes and scalable workflows, creating the structure that allows our teams to execute consistently as the network grows.

This role is for someone who combines strong analytical thinking with hands-on operational execution, someone who enjoys engineering the relationship between volume, capacity and resources and turning a complex operation into something structured, measurable and increasingly efficient.

What you'll do

Capacity, Forecasting, Innovation & Operational Execution

  • Translate expected parcel volumes into the capacity and resources required across Peddler’s network.

  • Forecast parcel injection by client, geography and service using operational data and AI-supported tools.

  • Plan rider hours, hub and DSP capacity, mid-mile movements and other operational resources.

  • Develop innovative models, tools and scenarios that improve forecasting, capacity planning and decision-making.

  • Work with Tech and Operations to build scalable planning systems and reduce manual work.

  • Monitor actual volumes and capacity against forecasts, adjust plans quickly and continuously improve planning assumptions.

  • Ensure the right resources are available in the right place, at the right time and at the right cost.

Operational Engineering & Scalability

  • Build and continuously improve the models, processes and workflows that connect volume → capacity → resources → execution.

  • Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints across hubs, rider operations, DSPs and mid-mile transport, and develop practical solutions.

  • Improve how Peddler allocates resources across cities and geographies, balancing service quality, productivity and cost.

  • Turn operational learnings into repeatable processes, assumptions and scalable operating standards as the network expands.

  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Tech, Finance and other teams to improve the data, tools and systems used to run the network.

  • Explore how AI, automation and new analytical tools can improve forecasting, resource allocation and operational decision-making.

Data & Performance

  • Track the relationship between forecast volumes, actual volumes, capacity deployed and operational performance.

  • Analyse key metrics including injection accuracy, scan volumes, delivery volumes, rider productivity, rider hours, hub CPO, DSP utilisation, unfinished deliveries and operational readiness.

  • Investigate forecast errors and operational variances to understand what happened, why it happened and how the next plan should improve.

  • Build clear performance views that allow operational teams to identify risks and make decisions before they affect service or cost.

  • Use data not simply to report performance, but to continuously improve how Peddler engineers and operates its network.

Job requirements

About you

  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, engineering, operations, supply chain, capacity management or a similar data-driven environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience translating demand into people, vehicles, infrastructure and cost.

  • Experience with operational forecasting, capacity planning, resource allocation or logistics flows.

  • Comfortable working with operational data and turning insights into clear decisions and actions.

  • Structured and quantitative, with the ability to connect data and models to physical operations.

  • Highly curious about AI, time-series forecasting, automation and modern analytical tools.

  • Strong ownership, problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Effective communicator who can work across operational, technical and commercial teams.

  • Professional fluency in English; Dutch is a plus.

  • Hands-on, analytical and highly structured, with a focus on building predictable, efficient and scalable operations.

  • Available 40 hours per week and based in the Netherlands (onsite role).

Why Join Peddler

Peddler is entering an exciting new phase. With strong strategic backing and nationwide expansion ahead, this is an opportunity to join while there is still plenty to build, improve and shape.

We are a driven, entrepreneurial team that values ownership, curiosity and continuous improvement. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and we expect people to speak up, challenge how things are done and turn ideas into practical improvements.

For someone who enjoys building structure, improving efficiency and seeing the direct impact of their work, Peddler offers the opportunity to grow alongside the company while helping shape how our future network operates. And while we take our ambitions seriously, we also want to build a team that genuinely enjoys working and spending time together.
