As a Head of HR at Peddler, your primary responsibility will be to develop and lead our HR team, shaping and nurturing our workforce to support our mission of sustainable, fast last-mile delivery.

At Peddler, we focus on making cities more sustainable through fast, smart, and efficient last-mile delivery. By partnering with over 500 local stores on our platform, we strengthen local retailers in our cities and connect them to the consumer demand using innovative technologies. Our established network enables us to offer same-day delivery from individual stores, leading retail chains and globally recognized brands with our 100% electric fleet.

Our mission is to transform current urban logistics into a fully sustainable network - beyond local retail. We achieve this in collaboration with international partners who supply our city hubs, after which we handle the last-mile delivery with our electric fleet. Position Overview:

As a Head of HR at Peddler, your primary responsibility will be to develop and lead our HR team, shaping and nurturing our workforce to support our mission of sustainable, fast last-mile delivery. You will play a pivotal role in our growth, which is fully on right now. And of course you will support the whole Peddler team hands-on with succeeding in the everyday operations - we’re talking scale-up in the end! This position requires strategic planning, talent acquisition, and leadership.


Your role:

  • Build up and develop a professional HR team capable of delivering our growth objectives - you’ll take over 5 amazing people from Michelle and will be part of the MT

  • Provide insightful data to guide decision making and and ensure that the organization is structured to achieve business objectives

  • Plan the staff needs with other departments - from Couriers to Finance staff

  • Identify and attract top talent for our headquarter through diverse channels, including job boards, social media, referrals, and partnerships

  • Develop recruitment processes and workflows, interview guidelines, talent assessments and onboarding documentation to ensure highly efficient hiring practises

  • Support our Recruiters to attract and maintain a robust pool of Couriers that loves working with Peddler
    • oversee Employer Branding activities,

    • constantly develop the hiring process for Couriers towards more cost-efficiency

    • strategically decide which employment frameworks to work with and

    • make sure all Couriers land well and are taken care of

  • Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure the Couriers and Hubs can perform at their best with a proper Performance Management strategy

  • Give our HR Operations team guidance (payrolling, employment management) and manage legal frameworks, policies and processes

  • Work with department heads, providing guidance on HR best practises and strategies to dynamically support business needs

Job requirements

  • You have proven experience as an HR leader, preferably within the logistics or courier industry, and minimum 6 years experience in HR

  • You speak Dutch and English fluently - your team is international, but Dutch is required for everyday work.

  • You’ve been building and/or shaping HR teams, strategies and frameworks for a business before, creating (cost-)efficiency

  • A people-focused leadership approach

  • Deep understanding of HR Operations, talent acquisition and (leadership) development

  • Knowledge of Dutch labor law

  • Strong data-driven approach to make best possible decisions

  • You’re a people person and know how to use your voice for shaping a high-performing workforce and an appreciative culture

  • You safely know your way through HR software and tools

  • Experience in a start-up/scale-up environment is a pre
